Built for Beginners

Lessons are designed to help new drivers feel more comfortable behind the wheel before encountering real traffic and parking situations.

Less Stress = Success!

The goal is to create an environment where there is less anxiety and strain for both the new driver and parent.

4. Cones and padded poles are supplied for all practice exercises and will serve as easy-to-use visual aids for your new driver.

Meet your instructor

Who am I?

My name is Dave Tschida and I spent 30 years serving as a police officer. I worked patrol and responded to 911 calls throughout my entire career. I currently reside in Andover, MN.

Certifications

In 2007, I completed the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Instructor Course and became certified to teach Law Enforcement Officers and create driver training programs consisting of:

  • Pursuit driving
  • Low-speed technical driving
  • Backing
  • Evasive Driving

Experience

  • I was a Field Training Officer and trained over three dozen police recruits in the squad for a minimum of a month each.
  • I trained new and veteran FTO's in effective ways to train recruits.
  • From 2007-present, I've been training Law Enforcement Officers from around the state.
  • I also create and administer one-on-one training sessions for police officers, and other municipal employees, that could use some fine tuning of their driving skills.

Personal

My wife and I have two children. When they began learning to drive, I started them in a parking lot with focused skill sessions before driving on city streets. This approach helped them better understand basic vehicle operation in an environment with limited tension.
